HUGE Hypocricy by Religious Leaders!
As many know, California requires that all political donations of $100.00 or more be public record via the secretary of state. The Los Angeles Times has prepared a helpful search engine, allowing anyone to look up public records for donations, whether for or against, in relation to Proposition 8, the initiative to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. That database may be searched at http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-metro-prop-8,0,2463893.htmlstory . I have used the search engine, and made a surprising discovery. Not one donation is on record from LDS President Thomas S. Monson, nor from any member of the LDS (Mormon) First Presidency or Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Why haven't these men contributed their own money, after directing that all LDS members do "all that they can" to "give of their means" in support of Proposition 8? Try it for yourself! To make it simple, use the LA Times search engine to run a search with "UT" in the state field, and you'll get a full listing of donors from Utah, both for and against Proposition 8. Not one member of the LDS First Presidency or Quorum of the Twelve appear. If the scarce funds of even the poorest LDS members need to be sacrificed, why not the contributions of these prominent leaders? It's not as if they're trying to avoid appearing to take a particular side on the issue!!
For those of you who read this, PLEASE feel absolutely free to pass it on to others and/or repeat it on your own LiveJournal pages. This kind of hypocricy should be WIDELY exposed!!
